Re: Word 2007 Formatting issue

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Ah, yes. Normal is permanently endowed with "Don't let the user shoot oneself in the foot" mode. It's been dumbed-down to trim down the number of support calls.

I try very hard not to use Normal anymore because it's such a bear to work with, and because it has so many unintended externalities.

OK, something's funky in my installation. Now I do see the option in
the Modify Style dialog -- for all _except_ the Normal style. Is that
standard?

I'm not seeing that behavior in Word 2007. The Automatically Update option
is *always* present in the Modify Styles dialog box -- even for styles I
create on the fly that don't have Automatically Update enabled at the outset
(which is the mode for me, since it's an option I seldom use).

Terry, that article doesn't apply to 2007 except in very specific
circumstances, because the "Automatically update" option doesn't
normally appear in the Modify Style dialog there.

Instead, read Cindy Meister's post at

In Word 2007, when applying a change to one area of text, it applies the
same
formatting to the whole document. I have seen previous threads that talk
about modifying styles but cant seem to access that within Word 2007.
Can
anyone help - before I uninstall and revert back to an older version?
