It is a bad printer driver. Check with Brother that you have the latest driver or if thy have any information about resolving the bug.

Also found I can look at printer 'properties' when in printer dialogues in
Vista, or from Excel 2007 and other applications by selecting printer, then
properties. However, only from Word 2007, says 'printer returned an error'
and can't look at the properties. Why do all applications except Word 2007
talk to printer correctly?

New clean install of Vista Ultimate 64 Bit and Office 2007. Can print from
Excel 2007 and other applications on Vista to my networked Brother Laser
printer (local to an XP machine), but not from Word 2007. Crashes every time
saying 'Word stopped working...'. Can also print to local inkjet from Word
2007 no problem. Only Word 2007, and only to that printer does it crash.
Error reporting sends error to Microsoft but comes back with no suggestions.
Anybody have similar problems with Word 2007 print?
