Just to pipe in on this, We are having the same problem with both Word 2003
and Word 2007. No rhyme or reason to the problem. Upgraded 50 users to Office
2003 with no problem, the next 4 users are experiencing the problems
mentioned. What is really weird is that the user that isn't experiencing the
problem can log into the same ws and not have any problems. I tried to
contact Microsoft about this, but all they wanted was money to fix the
problem. The only solution so far I have found that works is to place a
shortcut to Word on the desktop with the /a switch to have Word start in safe
mode. Users who were having the problems can now use Word properly. Hopefully
some from Microsoft is reading these post and realize that one of their
security patches broke something

What version of Windows are you running?

I am logged as admin but it does not work. How can we Run As Administrator?
Thanks for your time.

Ok, Found a fix...I posted this in my thread on this topic but I will repost
it here:
Ok...found a solution, this really isn't so much a fix but a work-around
untill MS addresses the issue. My assumption that this problem is cuased by
a security features appears to have been correct. If you run Word with
administrator privileges (by either logging in as an Admin or by selecting
"Run As Administrator"), everything works as normal...you can highlight text,
use the scroll bar and select the different options tabs in the options menu.
So, the next step is to figure out why a user's access level restricts the
mouse abilites in Word. Does anyone know what the best way is to contact MS
and tell them about this?
Hope this helps.

Wow... another problem here...
If I click on FILE, NEW document, the old screen (Office 2003) appears
instead of the new one ????
I just uninstalled Word 2007 and reinstalled 2003... I need to work ;))((((
So... If you ever discover the answer, pls let me know...
All the best,
Francis

Also wanted to add that this problem also prevents you from scrolling the
page with the mouse...even by using the scroll bars. If you hover over the
scroll bar, it turns colors like you would expect, but when you click on it,
nothing happens. So it seems that the problem is that Word isn't registering
the Mouse clicks with relation to the document. I know that may sound
strange, but that is the closest explanation I can think of...
