After much discussion about this elsewhere, one of the VBA gurus found this
option is still available in Word 2007 but has been omitted from the
interface. Hopefully this is something that will be reinstated with the
first major servicepack. Meanwhile, it can be toggled on by running this
line of code in the immediate Window of the VBA editor:
Application.Options.SavePropertiesPrompt = true 'false
Note that this is a toggle command, so running it again to turn the function
off.

No. I cannot find it in Word either. It does seem strange to have omitted
something that was already working properly.
However, the reason may be Windows Vista: Vista has the option to display
a
details pane across the bottom of the Explorer window. When you Save a
Word
document in Vista, the Save Dialog is just an extension of Vista
Explorer;
and when saving the Details Pane lets the user add to the Properties.
There
is an option to Hide the file list so that when you Save, what you see of
the Vista Explorer is just a small dialog with the box to enter the
filename
and the properties bar to enter the doc properties.
I've not seen Word 2007 used in Windows XP as I have always used Office
2007
with various betas of Vista; I guess Word must still use XP Explorer as
its
Save dialog, but there won't be the Properties Bar available.

I have seen this configuration, showed it to the pilot group and they
thought
that it takes up to much space on the menu bar. It would be great if
it
worked similar to the last version of Word where a Dialog box was shown
prior
to the file being saved and closed. This feature is available through
the
OCT in Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007 but not Word 2007? I don't
understand!!!! Somebody dropped the ball…. .

Ah! W2k7 handles properties differently too - but this is something
nicely
hidden (I can hear you say, 'But I thought that the Ribbons were
suppose
to
reveal all these commands to users, not hide them')!
Go to Word Options, Customise and select All Commands. Scroll down to
Properties and press ADD. Add is now on the QAT bar. When you click on
it,
it opens a dialog across the screen immediately beneath the Ribbon.
FWIW, you can create a company custom QAT and propagate it around. It
is
stored in the Users' profile as Word.qat.

It has nothing to do with printing, Terry, only with saving. When
you
first
name and save a document, Word prompts you to fill in the document
properties. Whether you choose to print them with the document or
not
is
irrelevant. Filling them in allows (some of) them to be displayed in
the
Explorer window popup or inserted in the document as DOCPROPERTY
fields.

The setting is in Word, Options, Display Tab. I see why you haddocument
difficulty
finding it: why under Display tab and not under Options, Advanced,
Options? Who knows! I'll raise this with MS.

In OCT (Office Customization Tool) there is no configuration
to
show
the
document properties when saving??? Is this correct?? This
function
has
been
available in Office releases
