Have you actually emptied the temp folder? Usually this is in Documents and Settings, Username, Local Settings, Temp. All applications will need to be closed to do this and you may have to do this from a fresh boot before anything is opened.

Hi.
We have one computer on our LAN that won't open any Word documents. The
message comes up saying that the file in question is locked for editing by
'another user.' You can't even open a document on the computer's C: drive,
and it can't open the normal template either.
I know that this normally means that the document is open on another
computer, or there's a TMP file wandering around; but in this case the other
computers on the network can open the files in question without trouble; it's
just on this one computer that it thinks that everything is open. It comes
up even if everybody else has closed Word and all TMP files are gone. I ask
here because the usual searches just turn up the usual "close the file/delete
the TMP files" answer.
We've tried the usual things: Restarting the computer, resetting the
network connection, incense, blood sacrifices to Zarathustra, etc.
Any help is appreciated. TIA
.
