Re: Word 2003 Slow Response

This is usually indicative or a bad or partially corrupt printer driver or possibly a graphics driver. I suggest checking that you have the latest driver for your printer and then deleting and reinstalling the printer. If that doesn't resolve the problem, check the graphics driver and try reinstalling that. If that doesn't help, then follow the troubleshooting tips in the FAQ which (despite its name) should help with this problem too. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

When using Word 2003 (XP Professional OS) the screen is updating very slowly
as I type. I can type several words ahead and have to stop for 10 seconds or
so before the screen updates. This also happens when I try to delete. It
only happens after I have changed view to "Print Layout" and then occurs even
after I am back to "Normal" view.

On a side note...?. the WINWORD.EXE still shows up as an active process on
the Window Task Manager even after I have quit Word. Could it be related to
first problem? The computer is a high end CAD machine with plenty of memory
and is well maintained. No problems with other programs. Thank you.
