Re: word exited when clicking on word tab in the taskbar

It sounds like you have encountered what I call "the minimize bug" in
the Handwriting Recognition services. Try the following:

- Open your Control Panel
- Open Regional and Language Settings (or Text Services for Windows
2000)
- Select the Language tab
- Click Details
- Remove Handwriting Recognition

hi all,

wxp pro sp2, word 2003 (as part of office 2003) sp2,

i have a serious problem and i am wondering whether re-installing
office
2003 is the answer. this is the scenario. i have word document
opened then i
minimized word (either by clicking minimize icon on top right or say
clicking
quick launch Desktop icon on the taskbar thus minimizing all open
windows.
when i click on word tab on the taskbar, it would seems to launch
the
document(s) i can see it on the screen for a fraction of a second,
after
which word exited. when i relaunched word from either Start ->
Programs ->
Word or shortcuts, i am faced with auto-recovered document(s) (which
may or
may not require Open & Repair) with all the work or changes, from
the last
save, that i've made lost.

right now my work around is never to minimize word and if i have to
switch
between documents, i used Window -> select the appropriate other
document. i
have also saved very frequently now, just about every sentence i
would do so.
it does not matter whether i have 2 or more word doc's opened, the
behaviour
i described would happen consistently. this is also the case if i
use alt-tab
to cycle to word i.e. it caused word to exit without saving, costing
my
on-going work.

has anyone come across this problem or otherwise has
advice/suggestion as to
what might be happening and solution? uniquely it happened only with
the word
component but not with any of the other office programs e.g. excel,
powerpoint or access.

thank you for your help,
jes
