Re: Word Freezes when trying to insert a picture 'from file'

See: You may experience problems in Windows Explorer or in the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165

If you aren't comfortable with editing the Windows registry yourself, then
go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down to Item
No. 383 "Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software - Fix". Download and run
the script to automatically modify your registry as described in KB918165.
You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus program in order to run
the script.

A revised version of the update should have been released yesterday,
Tuesday, April 25, to fix these problems. It allows the old non-conforming
software (that they know about) to run. I don't know whether it was or was
not released. For the latest info, see

This is a recent problem. It started following automatic updates
deployment. I've got Office 2003 and it happens in all office
products.
When selecting 'insert picture from file' the dialog box appears so
that I can choose the folder where the picture is. Upon clicking on
the folder, the application becomes unresponsive and I have to shut it
down. This only happens under the above scenario. I have no problem
trying to load clip art.
The error report references: ...\Temp\WER08d2.dir00\WINWORD.EXE.mdmp
and ...\Temp\WER08d2.dir00\appcompat.txt
Any suggestions?
