Re: Word 2003 crashed after Live OneCare update

I don't know what Live One Care is. However, there is a recently released
security update (KB908531) to Windows that is causing all sorts of problems
for people with HP software installed.

See
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser/msg/094143b42d0c3ca2
and http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165. The message gives clearer
instructions for doing what Microsoft is recommending.

Running Ms Office 2003 on Xp sp2 with Live One Care installed.
has been going fine up until this morning but suddenly Word has gone nuts
on
me.
I can open existing documents in Windows but cannot edit them, any command
results in 'not responding-end now' shuts down word and documents come
back
in the recovery pane. However a 'shadow' copy document has been created
in
the folder and this is not recognised as an MS word Doc.
All I have done is run the One Care procedures (including back up)

Should I either run the back up and restore (could I 'infect' thse backed
up
docs?)
or reinstall office?

regards

gazza
