First of all i know it's silly to still use floppy disks, but i work at a
public university library where we have lots of computers in public use and
it isn't really possible to tell everyone coming in not to use floppy disks
to save their work.
Anyways, i found a description of the problem:
"Windows 2000 Update
Apparently, there's a known issue about the Windows 2000 Update (when
combined, I believe, with Word 2003) that makes Word crash when saving to a
floppy drive (which you shouldn't do anyway, see this article). The only fix
I'm aware of at this time is to uninstall the update."
http://www.officearticles.com/word/steps_to_troubleshooting_microsoft_word.htm
, but it doesn't mention which update is responsible for this happening. We
have a lot of computers here and i would really appreciate it if someone
could tell me more about it, like the exact KB/Q number of the update. The
problem is quite random and there's a ton of windows 2000 updates installed
on the computers, so it would be a lot of work to figure out the responsible
one.
Thanks alot in advance!
