Document in 2003 spreads out in pages

Hi, document in 2003 spreads out in 1st and 2nd pages after entering 4 to 5
lines in the 1st page, ie after hitting 4 to 5 times the carriage return. In
addition to the above problem, there is an empty square to the right of the
cursor which I haven't found out yet how to eradicater it.
