IowaAmy, Pro V and many others,

Did you observe that the Save As problem with files opened on a Server
was not just in MS Word, but also in MS Excel? Probably with all the
Office 2000 (and Office XP?) applications.

Thank you for posting the problem and for all those who identified the
Windows update as the cause. This has cost me about 5 hours of
digging to find your solution.
