I have just come across this newgroup regarding this problem and have found
it very useful.
I have also been experiencing the same problem on my network and have been
unable to "save as" under a different file name onto our Windows 98 server
since the critical updates last week.
I am running several machines on Windows XP professional and Office XP and
Office 2K. The problem was sorted by uninstalling the critical update ref
KB885250. I have reported this to microsoft in the UK, but have just been
told that it should not be affecting Office programs.
Has anyone been able to come up with any other ways to resolve this at
present.
Other wise i presume every time auto updates trys to run it will try to
install the same critical update again. Do we know if microsoft will issue
a resolution to this.

Dwayne
