Okay, the one thing you didn't mention, which you may have just
missed, or actually didn't try...is turning down your hardware
accelerator. And I'm not just pulling this one out of my hat.

See, you said that you get the crash when you attempt to edit a doc.
Okay, when you try to move text around on the screen in an edit, it
causes the video driver to respond. Anything having to do with crashes
while working on the screen...as in just typing away versus doing
anything with menus or such...can very well be a problem that's caused
because your video driver can't handle the load. Been there!

So give that test a shot. Tune down the accelerator as described in my
Maintaining your computer article I previously mentioned at
http://www.mousetrax.com/maintain.html.

Reboot and see if that helps. If so, update your video driver.

If that doesn't help, then I'm running out of ideas. Yes, you HAVE
done just about everything. But that video driver may just be the
problem. Particularly since you did everything else!
