normal file causing problems?

    When i shut down word it pops up saying "Normal file already exists. Do you
    want to replace this file?" then after you deal with said pop up it then tell
    me that "Changes have been made that affect the global template, Normal. Do
    you want to save those changes?" Since the pop ups have started i cannot open
    any word file, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still
    happens. Please help!
