I'm starting to run out of ideas other than aggressively removing all
traces of Office and reinstalling. Since the errors still occur when
you start Word using the /a switch it does indicate an installation
issue.
If you want to go that route I can provide you with the details.
Something I did think of early on, but wasn't able to duplicate the
error on my end, but it's worth a check:
- Locate Winword.exe
- Right-click the file and select Properties
- Select the Compatibility tab and see if any Compatibility options
have been set. If so remove them since Word 2000 runs fine under
Windows XP.
