Errors when closing Word

There are a couple of similar posts re this problem, but I don't see an
answer that helps me. On closing a Word template, I get the following error:

Application exception occurred:
        App: (pid=1280)
        When: 9/23/2004 @ 17:07:46.560
        Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

This is followed by literally pages of stack errors, etc. The doc is a
template that others have to use, and I'd like to figure out how to clean it
up so they don't run into this every time they close it. Clues greatly
appreciated.
