I have been using Microsoft Word successfully,Windows XP,
for years. Suddenly I can't open Word. When I try to
open Microsoft Word program, I get the message,"Word
cannot open the existing "X (X is really a symbol that I
can't create from my keyboard. It looks like a narrow
rectangle standing on end.)

When I go to Documents and attempt to open a Word file, I
get the message, "Do you want to revert to the
saved 'name'.doc?" Or, when I attempt to open a Word
attachment from a received email, I get this same message.

For a while I was getting a Microsoft message when I
booted up the computer, that said, "You have a Word file
waiting to be loaded to your C-drive." Shutting down the
computer and rebooting clears none of the above problems.
Any suggestions?
