Bill,
We had the exact same problem with XP and the Office 2003 upgrade from 2000
and resolved it. We are running Symantec Small Business Edition 8.1
w/Exchange filtering and I discovered the issue. Seems there was another
stand-alone version of Norton A/V 2003 on the machine that was conflicting
with the Corp. Edition. I removed both versions, including the "live update"
module, rebooted, and reinstalled the corp edition "managed" version from the
server and everything works perfectly (finally). Hope this helps!
