In the IT world we like to say "format c" This means its
time to reformat your computer and start all over. This
may be worth your time because the slate will be wiped
cleaned. This is probably a better approach than too
troubleshoot a computer for hours on end. If you were
paying yourself there comes a point where you could have
just bought a new pc or reformatted your old one.

Spend money on a firewall, antivirus, and spyware and
adware programs - and keep your computer updated with MS
never ending updates. Go to zonelabs.com and download the
free version of ZoneAlarm as your firewall. It's a decent
program being free! Or use CA etrust for firewall and
    antivirus.

This may not have help you, but with all those viruses
you caught something tweaked your pc.

idea what's going on, and I don't know who or what's at
fault here. If you can help me in any way, please respond
to me as quickly as possible. I'll have to give you the
whole story, and it's a bit long, so please bear with me.
    > I used to think the problem started when I
deleted a "Microsoft Office" icon from the Startup folder
in the Start-Programs menu. I figured that menu was for
programs that started up automatically once Windows
booted up, and it was next to an AOL 7.0 icon. I don't
have AOL 7.0 anywhere on my computer, so i figured it was
    suspicious and deleted them both.
    > After that I scanned my laptop for viruses and
adware, deleted four viruses and quarantined a buttload
of malware and such. Now whenever I open Word 2000 or a
Word 2000 document, the program takes about a full minute
to load up, and another full minute to load the document.
And it doesn't seem to want to close itself at all
    without Ctrl-Alt-Del.
    > And when I open the program by clicking on a
document in My Documents, that window won't close without
Ctrl-Alt-Del either, and that causes an Explorer error
that forces me to recover my active desktop. So I don't
know if it's a Word 2000 problem or an Explorer problem.

    for reading this far.
