I have the same problem tonight. All my MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) are not working properly. The Word files can be opened with Wordpad, but not Word. I reinstalled the MS Office, but did not solve the problem.

Note: I ran the Norton Speed Disk before the problem started, but am not sure it is the cause since I run the Norton program periodically.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. (I am using Windows and MS Office XP.)

Word 2000 was working great, but last night when saving a
doc, the message "the file 'normal' already exists. Do
you want to replace the existing file?" I clicked "yes",
and now I cannot open an Word Doc. I get a message "The
file <Name> is not available. Does anyone have any ideas
on how to fix this? I'm using Windows XP.
