I have recently started to use Window CE 5 for an application effort. I
have
been able to successfully build and load the OS image via the eboot
bootloader via the ethernet port to the development board, but I an unable
to
boot from IDE interfaced CompactFlash card or harddrive with the same
NK.bin
file loaded on the CompactFlash card or harddrive. I keep getting a
checksum
error on record 2 message displayed on the PC based terminal program when
it
attempts to load the NK.bin file. Is this an issue with the trial version
of
the Window's CE 5?
Well, I can answer this one. No, that's not something that the trial
version does. The only difference between the release version and the trial
version is that the trial version will stop building the OS after the trial
period runs out. The OS that it builds during the trial period is not
handicapped in any way.
Also is there another Window CE 5 version limitation preventing me from
loading a Visual Studio 2005 C# built executable via the development
boards
ethernet port from Visual Studio 2005 using the procedure and support
functions listed in the the support note titled - "How to: Connect to
Windows
CE Device Without ActiveSync". Would these issues go away if I get the
Firm I
work for to provide me with a regular version of Window CE 5?
If you're connected to the device with the Platform Builder debugger, you
might not be able to do that. Certainly, on all of my devices, it just
works. There are a few TCP/IP settings on the PC that can cause problems.
Give us the full information on what OS you're running and how
(DEBUG/RETAIL, can you ping the device after startup from your PC, are you
connected to it with Platform Builder, also?) No, the regular version of
Windows CE 5.0 doesn't change anything along these lines.
