Hello Eric,
I got the same problem with the latest HP printers.
Please turn on your debug zones (as I recall it is USBFN) and check what
registry keys are searched for, when you plug in the printer.
In my case it was one key for a standard printer class, which loaded usbprn
correctly.
And then the OS searched for a second key, which was something like
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\LoadClients\1008\Default\255" (1008 is the
vendor ID of HP).
I then wrote a dummy driver for this USB interface and the problem was
solved.

There are many problems concerning printing under CE.
You mentioned Canon S600 & BJC-2100, I am really interested in whether you
have printer drivers for these printers.
Do you have a download link for these drivers that you are willing to share?

With the usb class driver support (usbprn.dll) It can recongnize the Canon
S600 & BJC-2100 (got LPTx port), but no luck with the HP Deskjet F4180 or
Epson CX4600, they are all usb printers.

The debug messages from a DEBUG build of the OS during that phase ofDevice"
operations should tell you something.

I'm testing with HP deskjet f4180
Even if it's not a PCL printer, the usbprn is a usb class printer
driver
(included in the image), I typed in usbprn on the "Unidentifed USB
usbprndialog box when the usb printer is pluggin, shouldn't that load the
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\LoadClients\Default\Default\7\Printer_Class]driver and map the usb port to LPTx port? It's not doing that on my
test
environment, is there something I missed.
Thanks,
Eric

Is your printer a PCL printer?

Hi All,
I'm trying to enable USB printer support on my cepc device.
I've added
- USB Printer Class Driver
- PCL printer driver
to the runtime image in platform builder 5
and also verified that following registry key exists on the device
UsbPrnalways"DLL"="USBPRN.DLL"
"Prefix"="LPT"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\ClientDrivers\Printer_Class]
"DLL"="USBPRN.DLL"
"Prefix"="LPT" However, whenever I plugged-in a USB printer, it
prompt me the "Unidentified USB Device" dialog box. When I type
automatically.Didin
the Driver Name field, the same box reappears.This behavior does not
happen
with HID class driver, mouse/keyboard, it recognized
ideasThanksanyone encountered similar issue and would like to share some
in
