I'm afraid that you probably know as much about that as I do. My impression
is that what you *want* is for redirection to redirect local ports on the
server to the redirected local port on the device, thus allowing programs
that are written to use COM1, say, on the host, to use COMx on the local
device as though it was local.
I have not seen any problem with the redirection. I haven't tried to
anything terribly sophisticated with it, just open it in a program running
on the host, send some characters to it, to print, maybe, a text page to a
serial printer, then close it. That all worked fine for me.

Hi again,
I have noticed that I am able to enable serial port redirection, but the
redirected serial port seems buggy. Also, I notice that the RDP server
(e.g.
desktop computer) ignores COMx name collisions. So if I have a COM5 on my
target and a native COM5 on my desktop, it doesn't warn me. And I don't
see
any way of distinguishing the two. How can I distinguish them?
Also, I notice that I am able to get a few characters to go across the
redirected serial port but then it eventually stops working and if close
it,
I'm unable to re-open it. Have you seen this?
Thanks a lot.
Best regards,

Thanks a lot for your answer. I have just done a clean SYSGEN and it is
working fine now.

You have the source (\public\rdp). It would also be worthwhile to
build a
DEBUG OS and see what debug messages you get from cetsc.exe, with all
debug
zones enabled, when you do this.
You're *NOT* connected to a server when you're looking at the options,
right? All of the controls are disabled while connected.

Hi all,
I am testing RDP serial port redirection. These are the configuration
steps:
1. I have just included SYSGEN vars SYSGEN_RDP_PORT and
SYSGEN_RDP_UI.
Then,
I have done a SYSGEN.
2. I have configured an RDP server on my desktop machine.
3. Finally, I have brought up the RDP UI by running cetsc.exe. It
brings
up
the Remote Desktop Connection dialog. I have clicked on Options and I
have
gone to the "Local Resources" tabbed dialog. The Serial Ports check
box is
grayed (disabled).
Why is it disabled? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
