Hard Disk driver performance figures

Hi
I want to know anybody has performed CETK test cases for hard disk driver.
If done, what is the performance of the Hard disk driver?
I have run CETK test case for my hard disk driver and I am getting around
64MB/sec at the max in UDMA mode 5 for read/write operation.
But when I access the file present on the hard disk, I am getting around
very less throughput of about 2MB/sec for both read/write.

When I analyzed the hard disk driver, I came to know that, hard disk driver
does not take the same time for reading the data of same size.
Please anybody tell me, if the behaviour happens is common for hard disk
driver. If behaviour is common, why variations are happening while
accessing hard disk, even when data is of same size.

Please tell me the performance figures for Hard disk, for both CETK test
cases as well as File IO performance results.

I will be very glad, if I get the proper reason behind the hard disk driver
behaviour.
