Re: Missing Sapi Engines CE6

Yes, it all appears that it *should* work, maybe was intended to work, but
was clearly never tested by anyone at MS. It does not work, that's for
sure.

Doing some more web chasing it does appear no engines! However we are
licensed suppliers of Realspeak sapi engines and voices and build them in
our
XPe as components. As there is a set of dll's, dat and h files as well as
folders, is there some example I can examine on how to build such into a
CE
engine? Thanks. Graham.

Hi Paul. I followed your recent request this month!
According to the help file we should have:
Sample TTS engine that demonstrates the use of SAPI 5.0 text-to-speech
interfaces. This sample includes two applications, Mkcevoice and
Regcevoice
that assemble a simple voice font for the sample TTS engine.

Sample location

%_WINCEROOT%\Public\Speech\Sdk\Samples\Cpp\Engines\Tts

I do not gave any
...\Engines\Tts.
If you look at the buils it does not contain sapi.dll or lib. This
appears
to come from Speech API but this cause an build error.

No, there just aren't any functional speech engines in Windows CE. You
have
to get those from a third party. A Web search will find a number of
possible sources. I've never used any of them, so I can't direct you
further. You might try searching the archives via GoogleGroups,
however.

Trying to build an app with speech. I am using evaluation release but
with
all updates included.
The Speech APi reports as 5.2 not 5.1 and if included then the build
errors
looking for ACM objects.
There are also no voices in PB so assume this may be reason?
Have tried to update to PB SP1 but this fails as evaluation copy!
Any help please.
Regards
Graham.
