Chris,
I rebuilt my OS image with the following:
.NET Compact Framework
OS Dependencies for .NET Compact Framework 1.0
Smart Device Authentication Utility
.NET Compact Framework 2.0
.NET Compact Framework 2.0
OS Dependencies for .NET Compact Framework 2.0
I have excluded the .NET Compact Framework 1.0 and now the Visual Studio
2003 C# application works. I guess there is some kind of conflict having
both installed, but I did try including the CF 1.0 and not the CF 2.0 and
still the VS 2003 application did not work.
Is the CF 2.0 backwards compatible with CF 1.0?

Not without debugging the problem. See what version of the CF PB is
installing. See what version your app is built against. Make sure
everything is properly installed in the GAC.

Chris,
I removed the .NET Compact Framework 1.0 and 2.0 from my OS image and
left the Dependencies for both then manually installed the Compact
Framework using the NETCFv2.wce5.armv4i.cab file from the .NET Compact
Framework 2.0 Redistributable. Now the Visual Studio 2003 application
that uses .NET CF 1.0 works.
Do you have any idea what could be wrong when I build the Compact
Framework 1.0 into the OS with Platform Builder?

If you manually deploy CF 1.0 does the app run?

Application using the .NET CF 1.0 fail to launch. With the error ".NET
Initialization Error" and says to reinstall the .NET Compact Framework.
The application is a simple window with a button on it.
.NET CF 2.0 application work fine.
A debug OS image did not show anything as to what component failed to
load.
I have built an OS image for a custom PXA270 device with CE 5.00.
I have included:
.NET Compact Framework
.NET Compact Framework 1.0
OS Dependencies for .NET Compact Framework 1.0
Smart Device Authentication Utility
.NET Compact Framework 2.0
.NET Compact Framework 2.0
OS Dependencies for .NET Compact Framework 2.0
I have applied all QFEs from Microsoft.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
Thanks
.
