CEPC kernel installation

Hi,
Using platform builder, I've successfully built & downloaded CEPC OS
for WinCE 5.0; 'debug' & 'release' variants. My goal is to boot the
kernel from hard disk on the target & then, using Visual Studio 2005,
develop/debug applications via ActiveSync.
To run CE on the target PC, I boot via floppy diskette (created by
Platform Builder) & the kernel is transferred via ethernet. Once CE is
running on the 'target' PC, I didn't see a way to access the "C" drive
on the target; possibly CE doesn't have access to the hard drive in
this mode. The PC has Win98 (FAT 16) on it .. so I was able to transfer
the kernel thru my local LAN, but I was hoping to use WinCE if
possible.
Will I need to reformat the hard disk (or probably just pop in another
drive), & install CE (ie system tracks etc) on the drive or can I just
boot the kernel from a floppy by starting up NK.BIN? Would the latter
option preclude access to the hard drive for file storage?
Thanks for the help ...
.
