NOR flash choosing

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hello All!
Excuse for my bad English...
We develop a new board and I would like to receive any advice about
flash choosing.
So, our board will have 128M NAND-flash, and NOR-flash chip, with size
I would like to specify.
We have an opportunity to solder the NOR-chip by the size 32Kb, 4Mb or
8Mb.
One of the main requirements is the minimization of OS (WinCE
5.0)loading. In the consent with this requirement it is necessary to
choose the chip size.
Let's consider possible variants.
1. 32Kb NOR-flash. In this case in NOR-flash resides minimum loader. It
loads main bootloader from NAND into RAM and jumps to it. Main
bootloader loads the OS from NAND is ordinary. This base decision.
2. 4Mb/8Mb NOR-flash. What it is possible to do in this case for
acceleration of the OS loading? For example, whether we can divide an
image into multiple XIP parts. And to put bootloader and NK-part into
NOR-flash, and other parts into NAND-flash. Whether it is possible? And
how there will be a loading process in this case? What the filesystem
should be set at NOR-flash - BinFS? What the bootloader should to do?
Just to jump at entry point in NK-part? How other parts will be loaded
from NAND-flash? Or it is impossible to put XIP parts into NAND-flash?
Hence this variant is not meaningful and we just should to put 32Kb NOR
on our board?..
So, whether has sense to solder 4Mb/8Mb NOR-flash on our board for OS
loading acceleration?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Sergey.
