Removing it is not a good idea.

This new folder is the location for the CoreCon components. Since CoreCon is shared between all versions of CE (the latest version should always be used), CE 5.00 will use the 6.00 version of CoreCon. Removing this folder will disable CoreCon for all versions of CE.

It seems that the registration for CE 5.00 is still pointing at the location of the old CoreCon files. The solution is probably to point CE 5.00 at the new tools (registry changes), but I'm not sure exactly what needs to be changed.

I'm having the same problem, also with Platform Builder 5.0. I have two PC's,
one of which has had WinCE 6.00 installed. This one exhibits this problem and
has the directory:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Corecon\5.01\bin"

The other one is fine and doesn't have it, only:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\CoreCon\1.0"

Could it be that this 5.01 directory is for WinCE 6.0, and having it
confuses PB 5.0? I tried removing it but it doesn't fix the problem.
