Or it may have an RTC, and it may be implemented right, but the
battery/power for it is dead or missing....

Or you might have an RTC but are either not using it in software or using
it incorrectly.
Assuming that you have an external RTC, the BSP is responsible for
setting the time in the external RTC and for reading the time from the
external RTC on boot and using the time.

Depends on how your Real Time Clock is implemented in hardware. That is
the clock that provides this information. Or you might not even have an
RTC, and it is being created in software. In that case, same thing
applies. A reset means start over...

I am using MIPS development board.In my image the Time and Date getting
reset everytime i reset my device to 1st Jan 2003.do any one know how
