No, that's not strange, or not particularly strange, since I think that
installing it "into VS2005" is doing absolutely nothing.
The string on the desktop, if that's what you're talking about can be edited
by the OEM.
This is a situation where we could suggest and suggest things for weeks,
while one ten minute phone call to the device OEM would give you the answer.
This is an OEM question. If they don't respond to you, DUMP THEM!

if you have a standard explorer shell, the default desktop window will
display "Windows CE.NET" for 4.2 & "Windows CE" for 5.0
My desktop shows "Windows CE.net": this should mean it's Windows CE 4.20,
is
it right? But the strange thing is the SDK supplied by the device vendor
can
be installed into eVC4 and VS2005, too! Isn't it a very strange thing? I
suppose this: if the device is 4.20 then SDK produced is only for eVC4 and
is device id 5.0 then SDK produced is only for VS2005. But when I
installed
the SDK it was installed under D:\Programs\Windows CE Tools\wce500 and not
under D:\Programmi\Windows CE Tools\wce420! However I can see it under
eVC4
and VS2005 but I have some problems compiling the source code with this
SDK
(moreover with VS2005). Ohhh.. I'm going crazy, I don't know what to think
it's ok.. :-O
