and yeah,

i need not rename the device name as such...but i just have to make
some modification...if it is 'box', changing it to 'bo' (without applying the
change) and changing it back to 'box' is enough (applying the change now).
As i said, without doing this modification, when i click in 'add/del network
adapter', i get redirected back to 'deviceconfig.htm'.

and when i get in, none of the available macs are selected one of
which, (mac1 as given in the registry) i presume should be.
