RE: SmbServer.dll (File sharing service) - issues with XP - SP2

This is actually the first I'd heard of this issue. When I tried this
myself, I saw explorer "hang" for 3 minutes or so while a variety of SMB
packets were exchanged. Most of the time, the desktop client wasn't even
sending the server anything, so you'd see a bunch of packets exchanged,
pause for 60 seconds, desktop closes the connection, bunch of packets
exchanged, pause for 60 seconds, desktop closes connection...
Eventually explorer did display the share contents. I'll do some more
investigation into why this is happening, but I'm pretty swamped with work
so I can't promise timely results.
I can tell you though that Windows CE 5.0 will interoperate much more
fluidly with Windows XP. In 4.2 our file server was very similar to
Windows ME's. In 5.0, we put a lot of hard work into the server to make it
appear as an uplevel server to an XP Client. Basically, getting XP clients
to talk to us the way they talk to other XP machines.
