I believe in 4.2 there is a checkbox Platform Builder gives you -- a
security warning saying that the device will be able to access data on your
desktop, and asking if you want to give the device access or deny it. It
has a "don't show this dialog again" checkbox too. If you accidentally
click the wrong thing there, you'll get the behavior you're seeing. PB has
a way to re-enable that dialog, to ask you the security question again. I
think it is under Tools -> Options -> verbosity, at least it is in my
version of PB. But I'm not using 4.2, and I don't seem to have that
warning dialog (maybe it doesn't exist anymore). I hope this is enough to
help you check on that though.
