Yes i packetsniffed the transaction and what happens is that the CE Device
does the DHCPREQUEST to continue the lease, but the Server (erroneously)
thinks it's requesting a new IP Address, so it DHCPACKs the request with a
new IP Address. The CE Device of course interprets this DHCPACK as a go-ahead
to use his old address.. which may or may not be compatible with the new
Server's subnet.
It boils down to our customers having a poorly programmed DHCP Server, but
our problems don't end there.. if we're expected to continue our relationship
with them we must work around their issues.
I'll go ahead and look into changing the information the CE Device would
request as you suggested, and see if that will solve anything.
