My guess is that the problem is one or more of the following:

1. You didn't add your new directory to the dirs file in the parent
directory
2. You added the new directory to the dirs file in the parent, but after
the lib is needed, change the order.
3. You need to add RELEASETYPE=PLATFORM to the PS2_8042_KbdCommon sources
file, this changes the directory that the lib is put in when it is built to
$(_TARGETPLATROOT)\lib\$(_CPUINDPATH)

And I am ignoring that you are saying PS2_8042_KbdCommon instead of
PS2_8042_KbdCommon.lib assuming that is a typo in your post.
