How to track version of nk.bin

After researching this, it seems that the best way to automatically track
the "build" version of nk.bin is to use a script to update project.reg. How
do you write such a script? Does it have to be VBScript or JScript? How do
you call it from the PB build process? Any help would be appreciated.
