The reality is that the market for such a book is quite small and the
expertise required to wrrite it is pretty high. The payoff for someone to
do it just isn't there, which is why you haven't seen one. The only
possibility I see of anyone writing one is for 'resume building and name
recognition' so if someone is a CE consultant, then writing a book could
bring them more business. The problem with that idea, though, is they are
then giving up the knowledge in the book that helps make them an effective
consultant, which kind of goes against paying the rent.

To add to that, Microsoft is beginning to provide a lot more tutorial
documentation online, which further inhibits the desire to write such a
book.

So, IMHO anyway, the only way you'll see such a book is if 1) someone in an
academic areas decides to write one because they get name recognition
without endangering their livlihood or 2) the publishing industry completely
changes their royaly schedules. I don't foresee either in the near future.
