Fast, low-CPU, non-moving storage?
Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance
Hello all,
We are looking for a storage solution on CE5. We need something that
isn't moving (not a hard disk!), that is fairly fast (at least 1MB/sec
write, and faster reads) and doesn't use much CPU.
Our CPU would probably be an ARM9 around 300MHz.
Previously we tried with NAND Flash drivers on an iMXL @ 72MHz, but the
wear management and garbage collection used too much (all!) CPU for our
data rates.
I understand that cards with external interfaces such as SD or IDE will
have hardware-accelerated wear management (etc) built in. Is that correct?
I'm considering SD card, but from what I can see people have trouble
getting much performance out of SD.
Also considering IDE with IDE flash modules.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Aaron
