It is the list of shared resources. Just like from any windows OS. Mind the
icons a little primitive.
From there I can drill down as if from any Windows OS - it's straight up afile server.
I've been doing this since Win CE 3.0 was first introduced.
That's how I transfer new applications to the CE test machine during
development - fast. CE acts as a file client. Would be nice if file sharing
was available hosted on the CE machine, but I can live without it.
At least, up till this build.
It still works to Vista machines, also to W2003Servers - I just checked.
I'm not aware of anything that recently happened to xp boxes.
Is it possible some automated update with security patches now blocks this
connection from CE to an XP box?

I think you've just been lucky finding that working that way or something..
That's not the intended mode of operation, as far as I can tell. What is
displayed for the Vista box when you do that for it? The list of shared
folders? Or the contents of a share?
Maybe you have a share mapped from that servername called by that name in
the \network folder or something. That's what you'd get if you mapped a
share using a command something like this:
net use <servername> \\<servername>\<sharename>
You'd have a subfolder under \network, called <servername>, so
\network\\servername (although the second \ is not necessary), would work.
