RE: VS 2005 with CE 5.0 Created SDK

Josh

I attempted to repair the STANDARD_SDK installation and the repair hung in a
way similar to the original install hang. The SDK is not visible when
creating a project. I also checked with a coworker who installed VS 2005
after the SDK was installed and the SDK is not visible when creating a
project.

Does the SDK need to be installed in a specific manner or location for VS
2005? Should the SDK be visible when creating a project?

Thanks

Hi Bill T,
This issue is wierd....
Because i have encountered this in my laptop also, but not in my PC....
In my laptop it seems the install of SDK never finish completely --- hang
1st time in about 75% complete.
And i have chosen to "Repair" the pervious installation. It turned out to be
done...but the installed dialog still there with 100% install process.....and
wasnt disappear......But it is okay after you repair the pre-installation,
and I could have the SDK used in my VS2005...And it's okay and work fine.
1. try to repair the pre-installation.
2. Or simply try it on another PC.
My Desktop PC ---- it got WinCE42/WinCE50/WinCE60 and VS2005 Pro installed
My Laptop ---- it got WinCE41/VS2005 Pro installed

I previously tried to installed the CE 5.0 standard SDK that came with PB
5.0 and the install hung before completing. I uninstalled it, rebooted,
downloaded the one from the link you provided and attempted to install it but
it too hung before completing. Any idea why this is happening? BTW I am
using an evaluation copy of VS 2005.

Thanks

Please try the standard SDK for Windows CE 50
You may download it at :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=FA1A3D66-3F61-4DDC-9510-AE450E2318C3&displaylang=en
If it shows (under normal circumstances), you should check with your SDK
generation process again. And maybe build a new one.
If it does not show, it means there is something wrong with your VS2005
environment.

I would like to use Visual Studio 2005 to create C++ apps that run on our CE
5.0 X86 hardware. I have installed our standard X86 SDK, that I created
with platform builder 5.0, onto the VS 2005 machine but it is not present
when I create a C++ console app.

A previous posting suggests that this does not work but does not describe a
work around. Is this correct? Is there a workaround?

Thanks
