I have not seen that to be the case. It used to be, before AYGSHELL was in
Platform Builder, that lots of Pocket PC applications would not port, but
I've had few problems since then. Sure, there are particular application
types that need to establish connections manually or something, but that's
the minority of total applications.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the reply - what a shame!
That means that many apps won't port over to CE, and what with so many
embedded products starting to use GSM/GPRS, there's quite a bit extra
to do :o(
Cheers anyway,
Alex

Yes, it's restricted to the HTCs of the world. When you are a Windows
Mobile device, Microsoft controls much more of what goes into your
device,
how it works, etc. They also demand significant license commitments.
There might be a way, but that would require numerous license violations.

Hi all,
I'm aware of the differences between Windows Mobile and WinCE 5.0, but
I'm wondering if there's any way for low volume (1-5k / yr) embedded
device manufacturers to choose the former over the latter, or is it
restricted to the HTCs of this world?
Furthermore if that is the case, then is there any way to port the
Windows Mobile-specific libraries over to vanilla CE 5.0?
Thanks and best regards,
Alex
