Hi,
If the vesatest.exe program comes up with some valid resolutions, than you
can use the flat vga driver, and the chipset doesn't matter since it is vesa
2.0 compatible (which is a standard).
Could you post the output of that program here?
If your system has the videochip embedded on the motherboard, than usually
there is a bios setup feature for the amount of memory used as video memory.
If you use a separate video card, the amount of memory depends on the memory
chips installed on that card. Sometimes it is possible to plug additional
memory chips on the card and increase the amount of video memory that way.
If you have a desktop windows version for the computer you want to use for
your CE, than you can install the AIDA32.EXE program. That gives you a lot
of information about the system. Also, if on that os the correct video
driver is installed, this might give some information about the chipset as
well.
Another option is opening the box. Look at the video adapter and note it's
brand and type number. Google on the internet to find the spec's of it. If
the video chip is on the motherboard, than you should be able to find more
information on the website of the motherboard constructor. (HP in your case
I believe)
If you use the flat vga driver. (You haven't told us yet) than you change
the resolution with the options that go with the loadcepc command line.

Luc

Hi,
use the vesatest.exe program to see if your video adapter is vesa 2.0
compatible and which resolutions are supported.
I start with "loadcepc /L:800x600x16:800x600 nk.bin"
The lowest resolution 320 x 240 is the only one that can use the normal
Ifvideo window in lower memory. This works with almost any video adapter.
flatthe requested video mode you add to loadcepc is not supported, then the
settings will default to that resolution.
I don't think your HP desktop has a MQ200 video chip. If you use the
thatvga driver for a CEPC platform, the video settings are passed by the
bootloader to the OS. Also notice that you need twice the video memory
desktop....you might expect to need for a chosen resolution.
800 x 600 x 16 : you might expect 800 x 600 x 2 = 960000 bytes.
One line in video memory will be 1024 pixels long instead of 800
1024 x 600 x 16 :you might expect to need 1024 x 600 x 16 =1228800 bytes
For windows CE, you will need 4MB of video memory for this to work.
