Re: Epia Mini-ITX ce installation

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi,

if your image doesn't start up, you might make a debug build version and
catch the messages that come out of the debug serial port to see what goes
wrong. You will only need a NULL modem cable to do this. Without this
information, nobody on this newsgroup will be able to tell you what's going
wrong, unless some have a glass bol.

Luc

Sorry, I still didn't get what "wizard" you are talking about.
Do you mean desktop like Device Manager and "Add New Hardware"
wizard? Forget about it, there is nothing like this on CE.

Your basic steps to build your own customized image are:

1. Install Platform Builder on you development PC.

2. Obtain a BSP for your board.

3. In PB IDE, goto "Manage Catalog Items" and import the
Epia BSP to the catalog.

4. Goto "New Platform Wizard" and create new workspace based
on Epia BSP and one of the standard OS Design templates.

5. Add all the necessary components from the catalog to your
OS design (Drivers, APIs, apps, etc), including the Epia
Audio driver.

6. Configure your design by changing *.bib, *.reg, *.bat, *.db
files.

7. Rebuild the OS design and you will get the resulting nk.bin
in the release directory.

Here you can look for details:

Yes, it is really possible to run CE on Epia itx boards.

I was trying to point you to the right direction in my prev
post on "how to make the right nk.bin". The most important
things are the Platform Builder development tool and the
Board Support Package for your board.

What is "standard wizard"? It should be possible to install
the audio driver to work with you current image (if you have the
driver binary or at least source), but again, this will not work
if your current image is not using *hive* based registry or missing
some important components. Also it requires a certain level of
understanding of CE internals, my advice is to not start it from
that side ...
