Re: Build & Sysgen Res2Res Error

I was able to work around this problem by disabling a Veritas automatic
backup agent that runs on our corporate machines. It seems that the Veritas
agent is grabbing so many file handles that when res2res.exe tries to open a
temp file it fails. I don't know if this is of any help.

Does anybody resolved this problem?.

I have been trying to work around this problem now for a while, but no luck.
I do notice that while the failure in res2res.exe is at the same line number
(problem is that a CreateFileW call to open a temp file is returning an
invalid handle), the res file and language ID reported preceding the failure
is seemingly random. Here is what I tried:
1. Reinstall PB - no luck - res2res.exe is an AKU tool
2. Reinstall AKU 2.4 - no luck
3. Download new image of AKU from JetStream - no luck
4. Chkdsk and Defrag - no luck
5. Disabled ActiveSync, RAPI, Skype and Symantec Anti-virus scanner - no luck
I am really baffled and would love to have someone from MSFT offer some
wisdom.
Thanks

I am running XP Pro and just got the same error on the latest PB and AKU 2.4
on a device emulator build (WPC and SF). I installed PB first and then the
AKU. I will try an uninstall of PB and reinstall. This is MOST annoying.

damn that might mean i have to find an upgrate to pro somewhere fast.
I fukking hate deadlines!
and this should just be able to run on home edition!

You may have something with the XP-Home point, hadn't really thought about it
till you mentioned it. Reinstalling didn't seem to make sense. I have since
tried installing CE 6.0 beta with similar results on the XP-Home box.
However, I ran the exact same install file for CE 5.0 evaluation on an XP Pro
box and it seems to work so far. Haven't been able to try installing the CE
6.0 beta on the XP-Pro box yet, had too many deadlines to scramble to meet...
Thanks,

I get the same error, reinstalling seems weird. Did you try it? Did it work?
Why?
I am using XP home btw, can that have something to do with it?
and also using the evaluation version of CE but installed the updates for CE

So you were able to simply uninstall and reinstall the system and it ended up
working?

I was also facing same problem.
Nothing can be done on that.Uninstall any version systems and then try.

I am new to CE and have been trying to work through one of the tutorials. I
have been getting the following error from the build.log:
---------------
ERROR: Res2Res: Res2Res: ERROR: Line: 267 File:

ERROR: Res2Res: Res2Res: ERROR: Line: 267 File:

Res2Res: Error adding resources (-1)
NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'res2res' : return code '0xffffffff'
Stop.

This is the only error I find in the build.log. I have applied all the
updates to the Platform Builder for CE 5.0 Evaluation Edition. Does anyone
have a suggestion or work-around for this error?
Thanks,
Lewis
