On the DeviceEmulator, some of your PC's function keys are remapped by the
Windows Mobile keyboard driver into softkeys... the extra buttons on the
front and side of most PDA devices.
Have you considered building a Windows CE 5.0 image for the DeviceEmulator?
It is available at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=474b03a6-e87d-455d-bc16-b8cf18ef39b4&displaylang=en.
The readme enclosed inside the download has step-by-step instructions about
how to roll an image, create an SDK, and install the SDK+image into VS2005.

Hi,
I am porting an application from Windows XP to Windows CE which makes
heavy use of Function keys (F1, F2 etc.). During testing, I find that
in the Pocket PC 2003 emulator (coming with VS2005), when I press F3
from the keyboard of my PC, the built -in Phone application pops up.
How can I change this F3 versus Phone application mapping in the
emulator? Some function keys (e.g. F1) are working properly. I know in
a real Pocket PC, function keys are not present, but my target Windows
CE device will have a keyboard with function keys.
Thanks in advance,
.
