It sounds like there's a bigger problem here than the server configuration.
Were you able to reach the server before and just not now?
Is the SMB server in the image (smbserver.dll)?
Is the SMB service running? "services -d list"
What kind of network connectivity do you have on the CE device?
Can you get the local ip info using "ipconfig /all"?
Can you ping from the device to the desktop? From the desktop to the
device?
Are you using IPSec on your desktop? Do you have any firewalls or VPN
clients installed that might be re-routing or discarding your packets?
Finally, can you get a network sniff of the attempted connection? You can
use Microsoft Network Monitor or if you don't have that, Ethereal
(www.ethereal.com).
Phew. That's a lof of questions, but hopefully we can limit down the
potential candidates of what's blocking you!
