Then I recommend sticking with text files, at least for now. But make
sure you understand the implications of UNICODE first. Otherwise, you
will likely waste many hours debugging strange symptoms. You should
also know about the byte order marker (BOM); for more info, use google
(http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) to look up
bom
in this newsgroup. I just did, and got 16 hits. I took a quick look
and am quite sure at least some are useful.
