Thanks, again, Michael! That definitely works a lot better, although I'm
not sure that I've found anything. I get the following in the logs on my
non-working system:

Whereas, on another system that does work, I seem to get the following in
the same position in the sequence of events when the same logging options
are enabled:

If anyone can suggest what piece might be missing, what registry key might
be set incorrectly, or what might need to be running but isn't, please do
so!
